Two weeks residency programme - La Traversée - a dialogue between performing arts and visual arts
Léa Leclerc (choregraph), Romane Piffaut (performing artist), Julia Gros (curator) and Lennart de Neef (visual artist), gathered for a week to develop a research on performing and visual arts, their relation to space, exhibition, and communication. This residency aimed at renewing personal practices as well as offer a collaborative piece which crosses disciplines. The project took place in the South of France in the cultural center of La Deter, La Grand-Combe.
Exhibition - VI-SITE
The exhibition was defined as a space of production rather than a space of presentation, where the audience witness the installation of the scene, over time. Artist Lennart de Neef created objects that are both functional objects and art works (canopies, hoodies, portable blinds, coat hanger), and invited the audience to renew their perspective on familiarity by offering a slight twist in their uses, their materials, their shapes. In the installation, he questions the space as a space for representation, close to a theatre stage, shifting the exhibition into the realm of performance. A sound piece was also realised by Lennart de Neef, piecing together recordings of the time working in the space and walking around the area of la Grand-Combe, where the residency took place.
