Global Art Practice

In 2018, an intensive teaching and learning project has been initiated through an ongoing partnership between Central Saint Martins and the Tokyo University of the Arts. The project took place across three cities - London, Tokyo and Hong Kong - and centred research on the complexity of cultural practices and identities emerging from contemporary city life. Through active and speculative research methods, participants were encouraged to create points of enquiry within the histories and identities of the people they met and the places they were occupying. The experience aimed at contributing to fresh observations and propositions and the possibility to produce different kinds of data, and means of representation and dialogue.

A series of exhibition, talks, events made the project visible in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
